Pianist/Coach Ming Kwong’s artistry has brought him to work at some of the finest artistic institutions in the United States. In the Summer of 2010 he was the repetiteur for Tosca and Le Nozze di Figaro at the world-renowned Glimmerglass Opera under the baton of Maestro David Angus, the music director of Boston Lyric Opera. He has worked with some of the top Conductors including Maestro James Levine on the production of Don Giovanni at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2009 and Maestro George Manahan, the music director of New York City Opera, on Cosi fan tutte at the Aspen Music Festival. His credits include a Coach Apprenticeship with Florida Grand Opera for their 2008-2009 season, Fellowship Coach at the Aspen Summer Music Festival and Vocal Pianist at the prestigious Music Academy of the West, led by Marilyn Horne. Mr. Kwong was the Music Director of the Undergraduate Opera Theater at Manhattan School of Music while pursuing his Masters degree. Ming works closely with Director Dona Vaughn, the former Stage Director/Acting Coach for the Metropolitan Lindermann program and current Artistic Director of PORT Opera and Manhattan School of Music Opera Department.

Equally at home in operatic repertoire and recital, Ming Kwong recently made his Kennedy Center debut with Metropolitan Opera National Winner Lori Guilbeau. He has collaborated in recital with partners such as his wife, Liederkranz Wagner Division Winner and 2011 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Semi-finalist Jessica Stavros, and MONCA Winner Erich Rene Barbera. Other credits include The Cleveland Art Song Festival with Martin Katz and Craig Rutenberg in 2010, performing on the Stephanie Blythe Master Class at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Joey Reynolds show – WOR news talk radio 710HD in October 2009. Ming is regularly engaged to accompany Master Classes given by the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

A prizewinner of numerous competitions, Mr. Kwong won First Prize in the Advanced Improvisation and Second Prize in the Advanced Bach Session in the 12th Hong Kong Piano Open Competition.

Mr. Kwong holds a Masters degree in Piano Accompanying from Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Warren Jones, and a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory. He currently is a Coach/Pianist at Manhattan School of Music.
